ABOUT PHILATELIC CLUB



Xavier's Philatelic Club established in 1988 in St Xavier's School, Jaipur, is one of the most active clubs, with aim to promote philately as educational hobby, among students through its regular meetings, workshops, multimedia shows & other activities. It is also one of the premier philatelic clubs in any school of Rajasthan. The club also organizes the inter school stamps exhibition "SCHOOLPEX" for last 15 years. It is the only club in Rajasthan which participates in the school section of Regional & State level stamps exhibition & has won medals for its displays many times. It is also an institutional member of "Philatelic Society of Rajasthan"

About philately



Philately is a hobby of collecting and studying postage stamps. The first postage stamp was released in 1840 in England. Stamp collection as hobby started soon thereafter and by the turn of the century it had become a craze. In those days only the prevailed could afford to travel and have contact abroad. Thus Philately become "the king of hobby and the hobby of kings" .In today's global village and with the spread of internet, Stamp collection is accessible and affordable for everyone.

Stamp collection is great fun. It is one of the most educative hobbies in the world. Stamps are brought out by the POSTAL Administration across the world on a variety of themes such as history, art, culture, natural heritage, flora, fauna geography, popular lifestyles. Stamps also commemorate important events, personalities and the progress of mankind in the realm of science, technology and world peace.
