The point of discussion of the debate was “social media is a menace in the society today .”All the debaters voiced their unequivocal opinions ,supported by factual data and logical inferences . All the speeches were well articulated and the speakers fought tooth and nail to achieve glory for their respective classes.
The speakers for the motion highlighted harmful effects of social media like self isolation, sense of insecurity, body shaming , breach of privacy ,loss of sleep and even depression in acute cases . They were firmly opposed by the speakers who were against the motion who highlighted the positive influence of social media and claimed that social media is extremely beneficial as it provides a medium for social interaction and communication and they also claimed that social media gave voice to the voiceless and impacted people deeply.
We witnessed brilliant performances by all the participants who left no stone unturned in showcasing their debating skills . Gul ayaz[1st];raghav jain and Meghaangee Chakraborti [jointly second],mudrika soni and Vaishnavi Nair [ joint 3 rd ] turned out to be victorious . They were honoured by Father Principal with certificates and cash awards .
The audience loved the event and applauded the efforts of all the speakers . In the end, our beloved teacher Tribeni ma'am who was also the judge addressed the gathering and gave moral values and appreciation to the students. The masters of ceremony and teacher co-ordinators [Mrs Olive E. Malaki mam and Mrs Seema Rathore mam ] also did a commendable job in organizing the event and because of their contribution,the event overall was very engrossing and riveted everyone.
